You’re invited to join us for our next Didactic Series lecture on Friday, July 8 as Dr. Lori A. Alvord and Dr. Naomi Bender discuss “Cultural Medicine for Primary Care.”
Dr. Lori A. Alvord currently serves as Chief of Staff and surgeon at Astria Health in Washington. Born and raised in Crownpoint, NM, Dr. Alvord earned her MD from Stanford University Medical School in 1985. In 1994, she became the first board-certified female Diné surgeon, and in 1999 she would co-author the book The Scalpel and the Silver Bear.
Dr. Naomi Bender is the Director of Native American Health Science Programs at Washington State University’s Spokane Health Science campus. As the Administrator of these programs, she manages the oversight, strategic development, implementation, and response to Native American pathway programs in Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and allied health sciences.
Our Didactic Lecture Series is open to all Primary Care Residents and Faculty in New Mexico so we encourage all who meet the criteria to attend!
